Pursuant to section 5 of the Industry Training and Apprenticeships Act 1992, Skills Active Aotearoa Limited is recognised as an industry training organisation for the sports, fitness, recreation, and performing arts industries. This includes the planning, management, promotion and delivery of sport, fitness, community recreation, outdoor recreation, diving (excluding aquaculture), snowsport and performing arts.

The recognition takes effect from 26 June 2019.
