Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Board (Drainlaying Registration and Licensing) Registration Pathways Amendment Notice 2018
The Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Board, under sections 28, 30, 31 and 139 of the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Act 2006 (“Act”), having been guided by the principles set out in section 32 of the Act, issues the following notice to amend the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Board (Drainlaying Registration and Licensing) Notice 2016, published in the New Zealand Gazette, 27 October 2016, Issue No. 97, Notice No. 2016-gs6013.
This notice is the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Board (Drainlaying Registration and Licensing) Registration Pathways Amendment Notice 2018.
This notice comes into force on 1 April 2018.
This notice amends the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Board (Drainlaying Registration and Licensing) Notice 2016 (“principal notice”).
The purposes of this notice are to:
(1) In this notice, unless the context otherwise requires—
board means the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Board.
(2) Any term or expression that is defined in the Act that is used but not defined in this notice has the same meaning as in the Act.
(1) Paragraph 6(6)(b)(i)(A) of the principal notice is revoked and the following paragraph is substituted:
“A. an assessment from The Skills Organisation concluding that the applicant’s plumbing qualification is equivalent to, or greater than the New Zealand Certificate in Drainlaying at level 4; and”
(2) After paragraph 11(1)(a), the following paragraph is added:
“(aa) obtained the New Zealand Certificate in Drainlaying; or”
(3) Paragraph 11(1)(b)(i)(A) of the principal notice is revoked and the following paragraph is substituted:
“A. an assessment from The Skills Organisation concluding that the applicant’s plumbing qualification is equivalent to, or greater than the New Zealand Certificate in Drainlaying at level 4; and”

This notice changes the registration pathways in the principal notice to recognise a new qualification in drainlaying and change the process for overseas qualified practitioners wishing to become registered in New Zealand.
