Pursuant to section 7(5) of the Inquiries Act 2013, and as the appointing Minister for the Inquiry, the Minister of Internal Affairs amends the final reporting date in the notice titled Establishment of the Government Inquiry into the Appointment Process for a Deputy Commissioner of Police, published in the New Zealand Gazette, 24 July 2018, Notice No. 2018-go3641, accordingly:

  1. The inquiry is to report its findings and opinions in writing to the appointing Minister no later than 2 November 2018.
  2. The paragraphs under the section titled “Commencement of work and reporting requirements” will be removed and replaced with:

“The inquiry will commence on 20 August 2018. The Inquiry is to issue its final report, containing findings and recommendations, in writing no later than 2 November 2018. The Inquiry may issue an interim report or reports of findings and recommendations.

If the Inquiry identifies issues which may affect its ability to deliver a final report by 2 November 2018 it shall notify the appointing Minister as soon as possible with a view to identifying an appropriate solution, which may include (but is not limited to) an extension of time.”
