Issued at Wellington this 21st day of May 2018.
PAUL STOCKS, Acting Chief Executive, Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.
This notice is the Notification of Levy Rates Under the Energy (Petrol, Engine Fuel, and Gas) Levy Regulations 2017 Notice 2018.
The notice takes effect from 1 July 2018 and applies until 30 June 2019.
This notice is made under Regulations 7 and 11 of the Energy (Petrol, Engine Fuel, and Gas) Levy Regulations 2017, and gives notice of two levy rates calculated under Regulations 5 and 9 of those Regulations.
This note is for explanatory purposes only
The petroleum or engine fuel monitoring (PEFM) levy and the gas safety, monitoring, and energy efficiency (GSMEE) levy are provided for in the Energy (Fuels, Levies, and References) Act 1989. Sections 23 and 24 of that Act provide for the PEFM and GSMEE levy rates to be calculated in accordance with Regulations.
The Regulations are the Energy (Petrol, Engine Fuel, and Gas) Levy Regulations 2017, which provide for the levy rate to be calculated each year to account for variations in the levy funding of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA).
Regulations 7 and 11 require the chief executive of the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment to publish the levy rate and calculation for the PEFM levy and the GSMEE levy, for each levy period, in the New Zealand Gazette and on the Ministry’s website.
