Designation of a Gold Fossicking Area

Pursuant to section 98A(1) of the Crown Minerals Act 1991, I hereby designate the area of land listed in the Schedule as a gold fossicking area (GFA).

Restrictions

Gold fossicking activities are restricted to that part of the wet bed of Louis Creek within the area described in the Schedule.

Persons have the right to mine for gold in the designated gold fossicking area by means of non-motorised hand tools only.

Due to commercial forestry in the area, no fires shall be lit at any time of the year. This restriction excludes the use of gas fired camping stoves used in a safe manner.

At times of commercial harvest of production forestry the Tasman District Council may restrict access to the gold fossicking area to ensure public safety.

Schedule

GFA 55529 – Lower Louis Creek

All that area of land comprising 4.855 hectares approximately, situated along a 1km length of bed and adjacent streambanks on both sides of Louis Creek, being Part Section 13 Block XIV Howard Survey District, Tasman District, Nelson Land District, more particularly identified in the spatial database held by the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.
