Notice of Issue of a Warning on the Use of Loop Bar Details and Amendment to Verification Method B1/VM1 and Associated Material Incorporated by Reference

Warning on the Use of Loop Bar Details

Pursuant to section 26 of the Building Act 2004 (“Act”), I give notice that the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (“Ministry”) has issued a warning about the use of loop bar support details that do not comply with NZS 3101.1:2006 Amendment 3 that are used to reinforce flange-hung, double-tee precast concrete floor units.

The warning comes into force on 3 April 2018 and will remain in place until amended or revoked by the Ministry. The Ministry has issued the warning using the procedure in section 29(5)(d) of the Building Act 2004.

Amendment to Verification Method B1/VM1

Pursuant to section 24(1) of the Act, I give notice of an amendment to the Verification Method B1/VM1 that was first issued in July 1992. The amended version of Verification Method B1/VM1 (Amendment 16) comes into force on 3 April 2018. The preceding version (Amendment 15) continues to be in force until 30 June 2018. From 3 April 2018 to 30 June 2018 either version (Amendment 15 or Amendment 16) may be used.

Verification Method B1/VM1 is available for download free of charge from the Ministry’s website, www.building.govt.nz/building-code-compliance.

New Material Incorporated by Reference

Pursuant to section 410(1)(e) of the Act, I give notice that the following materials are to be incorporated by reference into Verification Method B1/VM1 on 3 April 2018:
