The Tariff (World Trade Organization Information Technology Agreement) Amendment Order 2018
Notice is hereby given of the making of an order amending the New Zealand Tariff, pursuant to section 9 of the Tariff Act 1988, to correct technical errors in the Tariff. Most of the errors are related to the tariff items falling within the World Trade Organization Information Technology Agreement.
The order is the Tariff (World Trade Organization Information Technology Agreement) Amendment Order 2018.
The order will come into force on 1 July 2018.
The order corrects a number of technical errors in the New Zealand Tariff. These errors were inadvertently introduced in 2017 when New Zealand’s commitments under the World Trade Organization Information Technology Agreement were transferred from Part II Concessions to Part I, the main body, of the New Zealand Tariff. The order also makes some other technical amendments regarding motor vehicle heaters and parts thereof, and multi-ply paper and paperboard products.
The amendments ensure that importers are not paying duties where these are not required, and the goods are classified correctly to improve the accuracy of trade data collection.
A copy of the order can be viewed on the New Zealand Customs Service website, www.customs.govt.nz, or ordered by mail from: New Zealand Customs Service, PO Box 2218, Wellington 6140. Attention: Corporate Services.
