Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions on 31 July 2017:

• 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.7(1) – Design, Construction and Equipment – Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships – Design, survey and construction – Approval of ship’s design by surveyor who holds a current Certificate of Surveyor Recognition.
• 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.9(3) – Design, Construction and Equipment – Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships – Ships post-27 May 2004 of 7.5m or more in length must be constructed under survey.
• 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.38(1) – Design, Construction and Equipment – Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships – General passenger ships – Major alterations or modifications of a ship’s electrical systems must be approved by a surveyor recognised by the Director.
