Notice of Exemption From Maritime Rules

Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions from 10 January 2018 to 8 March 2018 inclusive:

  • 2 from Maritime Rule 19.62(1) – Maritime Transport Operator – Certification and Responsibilities – No person may operate or permit the operation of a ship in the maritime transport operation unless the ship has a valid Certificate of Survey issued under Rule 44.41
  • 2 from Maritime Rule 31.25(1) – Crewing and Watchkeeping – General crewing and other requirements – Duty of crew to hold certificates and to be able to demonstrate ancillary proficiencies – Specific certificate or endorsement or higher grade of certificate or endorsement
  • 1 from Maritime Rule 31.25(1), Table 11, 24m or more but less than 500 GT – Crewing and Watchkeeping – Duty of crew to hold certificates and to be able to demonstrate ancillary proficiencies - crewing for passenger ships enclosed water limits
