Pursuant to sections 11 and 14 of the District Court Act 2016, Her Excellency the Governor-General of New Zealand has been pleased to appoint

Deidre Jane Orchard, barrister and solicitor of Christchurch

to be a District Court Judge, to exercise civil and criminal jurisdiction within New Zealand and to conduct jury trials pursuant to section 354(3) of the Criminal Procedure Act 2011, commencing on 13 December 2017.
