Notice of Proposals to Amend the Building Code Verification Method B1/VM1 and Proposal to Ban the Loop Bar Hanger Connection Detail

Verification Method B1/VM1 Proposed to be Amended

Pursuant to section 29 of the Building Act 2004 (“Act”), I give notice that the Verification Method B1/VM1, for the Building Code clause B1 Structure, is proposed to be amended.

Proposal to Issue a Ban on the Use of the Loop Bar Hanger Connection Detail

Pursuant to section 29 of the Act, I give notice that the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (“Ministry”) is proposing to issue a ban on the use of the loop bar hanger connection detail associated with the support of pre-cast concrete flange-hung double-tee flooring units.

Verification Method B1/VM1 is Proposed to be Amended by Changes to Materials Incorporated by Reference

Pursuant to sections 406 and 409 of the Act, I give notice that the Verification Method B1/VM1 for the New Zealand Building Code clause B1 Structure is proposed to be amended by changes to material incorporated by reference.

Pursuant to section 409(2) of the Act, I give notice that the following materials are proposed to be incorporated by reference into the Verification Method B1/VM1:

Pursuant to sections 406(c)(ii) and 409(2) of the Act, I give notice that the material previously incorporated by reference into the Verification Method B1/VM1, as set out in Column 1 in the table below, is proposed to be replaced by the material in Column 2:

The statements of proposal for the changes to the Verification Method B1/VM1, the proposed ban and the material incorporated by reference in the Verification Method B1/VM1, can be downloaded free of charge from the Ministry’s website: www.mbie.govt.nz/info-services/building-construction/consultations.

The statements of proposal are also available from the Wellington office of the Ministry at 15 Stout Street, Wellington, between the hours of 8.30am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.
