Pursuant to section 94D of the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002, I, the Honourable Gerry Brownlee, give notice of an extension to the national transition period notified on 9 December 2016 at 1.00pm over the Kaikoura and Hurunui Districts, and the Wairau-Awatere ward of Marlborough District in relation to the 14 November 2016 earthquake.

This extension of the transition period:

1. comes into force immediately before the period ends (that is, immediately before on 9 March 2017 at 1.00pm); and
2. ends 90 days after the time and date on which it comes into force (that is, on 7 June 2017 at 1.00pm), unless extended or terminated earlier.
