Pursuant to section 448(2) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, Maritime New Zealand gives notice of the making of the following maritime rules and marine protection rules:

Marine Protection Rules Various Amendments [Changes related to Conventions] 2017:

Maritime Rules Various Amendments [Changes related to Conventions] 2017.

These rules were signed on 18 December 2017 and will come into force as follows:

• Rules 4 and 5 of the Maritime Rules Various Amendments [Changes related to Conventions] 2017 come into force on 1 July 2018.
• All other rules of the Maritime Rules Various Amendments [Changes related to Conventions] 2017 come into force on 1 February 2018.
• All the Marine Protection Rules Various Amendments [Changes related to Conventions] 2017 come into force on 1 February 2018.

These rules are available for inspection free of charge, or for purchase, from Maritime New Zealand, Level 11, 1 Grey Street, Wellington, or on the Maritime New Zealand website at www.maritimenz.govt.nz/rules.
