Notice of Intention to Take an Electricity Easement in Gross—Gore-Tee A Transmission Line Project, Gore District
Notice is hereby given that the Minister for Land Information proposes to take, under the Public Works Act 1981, an electricity easement in gross over the land described in the First Schedule to this notice.
The easement is required for the Gore-Tee A Transmission Line Project (North Makarewa – Three Mile Hill to Gore Substation) (“project”).
Pursuant to section 186(1) of the Resource Management Act 1991, the Minister for Land Information has agreed to acquire the easement under Part 2 of the Public Works Act 1981.
By way of section 186(2) of the Resource Management Act 1991, the effect of any Proclamation taking the easement for the purposes of section 186(1) shall be to vest the easement in Transpower New Zealand Limited, being the network utility operator responsible for the project, instead of the Crown.
Construction of the project is required to meet growth and increasing demand for electricity in the region, and to remedy underlying network weakness which will provide a more secure supply for the region.
The owner of the land and those persons with a registered interest in it have been served with notice of the Minister for Land Information’s intention to take the easement and advised of their right to object.
Any other person having the right to object may send a written objection to the Registrar, Environment Court, Level 1, District Court Building, 282 Durham Street, Christchurch 8013, or by post to PO Box 2069, Christchurch 8140, or DX WX11113, Christchurch, within 20 working days after the date of publication of this notice.
If any objection is made in accordance with this notice, a public hearing will be held with the right of the objector to appear and be heard personally, unless the objector otherwise requires, and each objector will be informed of the time and place of the hearing.
