Approval of Pegasus Health GP Care Opioid Substitution Treatment and Clinician to Provide Substitution Treatment Under Section 24 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975

Pursuant to section 24(7)(b) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975, I, Anthony Duncan, acting under delegated authority from the Minister of Health, specify the Pegasus Health GP Care Opioid Substitution Treatment (“Pegasus Health GP Care OST”) as a service that may provide treatment with controlled drugs for people who are dependent on controlled drugs at the following place:

Christchurch 8013

And, pursuant to section 24(7)(a) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975, acting under delegated authority from the Minister of Health, I specify

Dr Paul Hercock

as a medical practitioner, may:

  1. prescribe, administer or supply controlled drugs for the treatment of dependence to controlled drugs as the lead clinician for Pegasus Health GP Care OST;
  2. authorise in writing medical practitioners as specified under subsection (2)(b) to:
    1. prescribe, administer or supply controlled drugs for the treatment of dependence;
    2. authorise in writing general practitioners receiving clients from Pegasus Health GP Care OST as specified under subsection (2)(d); and
  3. authorise in writing general practitioners receiving clients from Pegasus Health GP Care OST as specified under subsection (2)(d).

Conditions

  1. Controlled drugs may only be prescribed, administered or supplied to people who are or have been clients of Pegasus Health GP Care Opioid Substitution Treatment (OST) or Christchurch Opioid Recovery Service.
  2. This approval expires on 31 December 2017.
