Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions:

  • 2 from Maritime Rule 20.21 – Operating Limits – Requirement to operate within lesser of operating limits assigned to ship or operating limits that apply to Master
  • 2 from Maritime Rule 31.84(1) – Crewing and Watchkeeping – Ships other than ships to which subparts C and D apply – Minimum crewing requirements for other ships – This rule applies to a passenger or non-passenger ship other than a ship listed in Rule 31.82(2)
  • 2 from Maritime Rule 31.84(2), Table 13 – Crewing and Watchkeeping – Ships other than ships to which subparts C and D apply – Minimum crewing requirements for other ships – Owner and master of ship must not operate ship unless minimum crew on board including seafarers holding certificates as required by a Minimum Safe Crewing Document, and seafarers holding minimum requirements and minimum number of crew on board as specified in applicable tables and accompanying flowcharts – Crewing for non-passenger ships – Coastal limits
  • 1 from Maritime Rule 40C.7 – Design, Construction and Equipment – Non-passenger ships that are not SOLAS ships – Design and survey construction – Design – Design approval requirements on ships pre-27 May 2004 and post-27 May 2004
  • 1 from Maritime Rule 40C.8 – Design, Construction and Equipment – Non-passenger ships that are not SOLAS ships – Design and survey construction – Survey – Surveyor must not issue certificate of survey or report a satisfactory survey, unless surveyor is satisfied of relevant matters set out in sub-rule (2)
