Notice of Intention to Seek Approval to Revoke Code of Practice

Under section 79 of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 (“HSNO Act”) WorkSafe New Zealand gives notice that it intends to seek approval to revoke the code of practice (“code”):

HSNOCOP 25 Management of Existing Stationary Container Systems at Timber Treatment Facilities.

The purpose of this code of practice is to provide a means of compliance with the requirements of Schedule 8 of the Hazardous Substances (Dangerous Goods and Scheduled Toxic Substances) Transfer Notice 2004, and Regulations 39 and 40 of the Hazardous Substances (Emergency Management) Regulations 2001, in accordance with clause 100(2)(c) of Schedule 8 and clauses 3(1)(b) and 4(4)(d) of Schedule 9 to the Hazardous Substances (Dangerous Goods and Scheduled Toxic Substances) Transfer Notice 2004 (as amended).

It provides a means of transition for timber treatment facilities into the HSNO Act.

The consultation period for the proposal to revoke the code closes on Friday 15 February 2017.
