Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemption on 23 August 2016:

• Obligations in Marine Protection Rule 131.62 – Tanks for oil residues (sludge) – Regulation 12; Oil fuel tank protection – Regulation 12A; Standard discharge connection – Regulation 13; Oil filtering equipment – Regulation 14 – Structure, equipment, piping systems, including, oil discharge and monitoring and control systems, oily water separating equipment and oil filtering equipment, fittings and arrangements that comply with Part 131, but only in respect to certain specified equipment required under MARPOL Annex 1, Chapter III (Machinery Space)
