Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions:

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 19.3 – Maritime Transport Operator – Certification and Responsibilities – Requirement to hold Maritime Transport Operator Certificate
  • 1 from Maritime Rule 19.41 – Maritime Transport Operator – Certification and Responsibilities – Maritime Transport Operator Plan requirements
  • 1 from Maritime Rule 19.42(1) – Maritime Transport Operator – Certification and Responsibilities – Develop and document maritime transport operator safety system in the Maritime Transport Operator Plan
  • 1 from Maritime Rule 19.43(1) – Maritime Transport Operator – Certification and Responsibilities – Develop and apply a survey plan
  • 1 from Maritime Rule 19.45(1) – Maritime Transport Operator – Certification and Responsibilities – Develop and apply a maintenance plan

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 45.5(2) – Navigational Equipment – All New Zealand ships – Sextant, chronometer, and binoculars – Ships proceeding beyond unlimited area must be provided with at least one chronometer
  • 1 from Maritime Rule 45.24 – Navigational Equipment – All ships to which SOLAS is not applied – Magnetic compasses – Fishing ships that proceed into the unlimited area
  • 1 from Maritime Rule 50.9(1) – Medical Stores – Ship operating in the unlimited area – Medical stores – Scale 4 – Rule 50.9 applies to any ship operating in the unlimited area
