Notice of Consultation on Proposed Revocation of Approved Code of Practice
WorkSafe New Zealand (“WorkSafe”) proposes to ask the Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety to revoke an approved code of practice (ACOP) pursuant to section 222 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (“Act”).
The ACOP proposed to be revoked is the ACOP for Managing Hazards to Prevent Major Industrial Accidents (July 1994).
This ACOP has been superseded by the new Health and Safety at Work (Major Hazard Facilities) Regulations 2016 and five new guidelines supporting major hazard facilities operators.
WorkSafe will consult with unions, employer organisations and the public, through the WorkSafe website, regarding the proposed revocation of the ACOP.
Dated at Wellington this 25th day of August 2016.
CHRIS JONES, Acting Manager Guidance and Standards, WorkSafe New Zealand.
