Electricity Industry (Exemption No. 240 (Auckland International Airport Limited)) Exemption Notice 2016

In accordance with section 11 of the Electricity Industry Act 2010 (“Act”), the Electricity Authority gives the following notice.

Notice

1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice is the Electricity Industry (Exemption No. 240 (Auckland International Airport Limited)) Exemption Notice 2016.

(2) This notice comes into force on the day after the date it is notified in the New Zealand Gazette.

2. Exemption—(1) Auckland International Airport Limited (“Auckland Airport”) is exempted from complying with the obligation in clause 10.25(1)(b) of the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 (“Code”) to ensure all electricity conveyed is quantified in accordance with the Code.

(2) This exemption applies only to Auckland Airport’s network supply point AAL0331AIALEN.

3. Term—This exemption expires at the close of 31 August 2016.

4. Reasons for granting the exemption—The reasons for granting this exemption are:

  1. the exemption is only required for a short period of time;
  2. the back-up feeders that are conveying electricity that is not quantified in accordance with the Code are rarely used;
  3. the electricity is quantified accurately and audited monthly;
  4. the exemption will have no impact on any other participant or service provider, and will not affect any other Code provision; and
  5. granting the requested exemption meets the requirements in section 11(2) of the Act.
