In accordance with section 9 of the Veterans’ Support Act 2014 (“the Act”), I hereby give the following notice.

N o t i c e

1. I declare:
   • service in the Republic of South Sudan and the air space above it on or after 9 July 2011 to be operational service for the purposes of the Act until declared otherwise; and
   • that this declaration supersedes the declaration of emergency status made under the War Pension Act 1954 for service with the United Nations Mission in Southern Sudan, which was made by the Honourable Nathan Guy in 2012.
2. All members of the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF), and any person seconded to the NZDF with the permission of the Chief of Defence Force, covered by this declaration shall have access to the entitlements and services specified in the Act and the Veterans’ Support Regulations 2014.
3. I am satisfied that there is a significant risk of harm to those that undertake this service, as required by the Act.
