Pursuant to section 71 of the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002, I, Annette Kay Main, extend the state of local emergency declared at 4.00pm on 20 June 2015 for Whanganui District owing to continued evacuation of members of the public from the vicinity of Anzac Parade (and the need for public safety cordons) and the ongoing support to “cut off” communities in the rural areas of the Whanganui District.

The state of local emergency is extended for 7 days. It will take effect immediately from the time the initial declaration of the state of emergency (or the last extension) was to expire.
