In accordance with section 446(a) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, Maritime New Zealand, on behalf of the Minister of Transport, gives notice of the Minister’s intention to make the following Marine Protection Rules:

Part 132: New Zealand Oil Spill Control Agents

Comments are invited on the above proposed Marine Protection Rules developed under the Maritime Transport Act 1994.

The consultation seeks views on a new Part 132. The existing Part 132 has been substantially redrafted in the new version but the general regulatory scheme for the conditions and process for the approval of oil spill control substances has remained intact.
