Pursuant to section 61(3) of the Government Roading Powers Act 1989, section 22AB of the Land Transport Act 1998 and Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2003, and the notice Variable Speed Limits—State Highway 29, Kaimai Range, published in the New Zealand Gazette, 14 May 2015, Issue No. 53, Notice No. 2015-au2865, the NZ Transport Agency hereby makes the following bylaw.

1. Title and commencement—This bylaw may be cited as the New Zealand Transport Agency (Speed Limits on State Highways) Amendment Bylaw 2015/2 and will come into force 28 days after the date of publication of this notice in the New Zealand Gazette.

2. Amendment—The New Zealand Transport Agency (Speed Limits on State Highways) Bylaw 2010/10* is hereby amended by:

• Amending line 23 in Schedule 1 to read:
  “Line No.: 23
  Region: 1

  Locality: Kerikeri
  Section of State Highway: From 970m south of Kerikeri Road to 500m north of Waimate North Road.

  Speed Limit (km/h): Any time during any period specified in condition 2 of the School Zones Notice when a variable speed limit sign installed on the section of State Highway displays the numerals “40”, the speed limit is 40km/h. At all other times the speed limit is 50km/h.”

• Inserting new line in Schedule 2 to read:
  “Section of State Highway: The section of State Highway 29 at the Kaimai Range from a point approximately 1000m south-west of the intersection of State Highway 29 with Soldiers Road to a point approximately 920m west of the intersection of State Highway 29 with Hanga Road.
  Speed limit: A variable speed limit of 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, or 100km/h. A speed limit applies from the point on the State highway at which a variable speed limit sign facing the road user is installed to the point in the direction of travel on the State highway at which a traffic sign, or a variable speed sign, indicating that a different speed limit applies is installed.
  The speed limit that applies is:
  (a) that indicated by the numerals displayed on the variable speed limit sign, or
  (b) 100 km/h, if the variable speed limit sign is blank.”
• Inserting new line in Schedule 2 to read:
  “Section of State Highway: The section of State Highway 29 at the Kaimai Range from a point approximately 920m west of the intersection of State Highway 29 with Hanga Road to a point approximately 1360m east of the intersection of State Highway 29 with State Highway 28.
  Speed limit: A variable speed limit of 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, or 100km/h. A speed limit applies from the point on the State highway at which a variable speed limit sign facing the road user is installed to the point in the direction of travel on the State highway at which a traffic sign or a variable speed sign indicating that a different speed limit applies is installed.
  The speed limit that applies is:
  (a) that indicated by the numerals displayed on the variable speed limit sign, or
  (b) 100 km/h, if the variable speed limit sign is blank.”

3. Authority to make bylaw—This bylaw was made by the Chief Advisor (Technical Services), Highways and Network Operations, under delegated authority of the NZ Transport Agency.
