Pursuant to section 16 of the New Zealand Geographic Board (Nga Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Act 2008 ("Act"), the
New Zealand Geographic Board Nga Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa hereby gives notice of proposals to assign new or alter existing geographic names.
The proposed new or altered geographic names are specified in the first column of the Schedule below.
The geographic feature type that each proposed new or altered geographic name relates to is set out in the second column of the Schedule.
The description of each proposed new or altered geographic name is set out in the third column of the Schedule.
The date by which submissions must be received is provided in the fourth column of the Schedule.
Submissions on the proposed new or altered geographic names may be provided in writing to the Secretary of the

In accordance with section 17 of the Act, submissions must state, with reasons, whether the proposal is supported or objected to and if an objection is made, then submissions may set out an alternative proposal, or support the existing name, if any.

Otumoetai Channel Seachannel 37.66øS Latitude, 176.15øE Longitude. An undersea feature within Tauranga Harbour, located off the northern shores of the suburb of Otumoetai (proposed spelling), extending from its confluence with Tilby Channel and Western Channel, and trending east for approximately 4.5km to its confluence with Stella Passage. Stokes Beach Beach A beach within Tauranga Harbour, located on the north-eastern shores of the suburb of Otumoetai (proposed spelling), extending along the frontage of Beach Road (eastern section) for approximately 600m.
