Notice of Proposals to Assign or Alter Geographic Names

Pursuant to section 16 of the New Zealand Geographic Board (Nga Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Act 2008 ("Act"), the
New Zealand Geographic Board Nga Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa hereby gives notice of proposals to assign new or alter existing geographic names.
The proposed new or altered geographic names are specified in the first column of the Schedule below.
The geographic feature type that each proposed new or altered geographic name relates to is set out in the second column of the Schedule.
The description of each proposed new or altered geographic name is set out in the third column of the Schedule.
The date by which submissions must be received is provided in the fourth column of the Schedule.
Submissions on the proposed new or altered geographic names may be provided in writing to the Secretary of the
New Zealand Geographic Board, c/o Land Information New Zealand, PO Box 5501, Wellington 6145. Email: nzgbsubmissions@linz.govt.nz. Website: www.linz.govt.nz/placenames/consultation/index.aspx
In accordance with section 17 of the Act, submissions must state, with reasons, whether the proposal is supported or objected to and if an objection is made, then submissions may set out an alternative proposal, or support the existing name, if any.

Otumoetai Beach Beach A beach within Tauranga Harbour, located on
the northern shores of the suburb of Otumoetai (proposed spelling), extending west from in front of Otumoetai Pa (proposed spelling) to Tilby Point for approximately 1.4km. Adjoins the Stokes Beach proposal below. From NZTopo50-BD37 770270 to NZTopo50-BD36 756274. Assigning a new name

Otumoetai Channel Seachannel 37.66øS Latitude, 176.15øE Longitude. An undersea feature within Tauranga Harbour, located off the northern shores of the suburb of Otumoetai (proposed spelling), extending from its confluence with Tilby Channel and Western Channel, and trending east for approximately 4.5km to its confluence with Stella Passage. Otumoetai Pa Historic Pa Site An historic Pa site located on the northern shores of the suburb of Otumoetai (proposed spelling). NZTopo50-BD37 769269. Alteration from Otumoetai Pa (recorded name). 5 September 2014
Stokes Beach Beach A beach within Tauranga Harbour, located on the north-eastern shores of the suburb of Otumoetai (proposed spelling), extending along the frontage of Beach Road (eastern section) for approximately 600m. Adjoins the Otumoetai Beach proposal above. From NZTopo50-BD37 770270 to 776268. Assigning a new name for an unnamed feature. 5 September 2014

Tindale Creek Creek A small tributary of Maruia River less than 1km long that crosses under State Highway 7 approximately 2km west of Lewis Pass. NZTopo50 BT23 487078 (source) to 487088 (confluence). Southland Land District
Makere Basin Basin 44ø37.776'S Latitude, 167ø52.925'E Longitude. A large depression in the sea floor with a maximum depth of 294m located along the length of Milford Sound / Piopiotahi, Fiordland. Tutoko Basin Basin 46ø05.489'S Latitude, 166ø42.254'E Longitude. A depression in the sea floor with a maximum depth of 167m located between Weka or Long Island and the locality of Cromarty in Preservation Inlet, Fiordland.
