Pursuant to section 158B of the Education Act 1989, I hereby give the following notice.
N o t i c e
1. I hereby approve He Puna Marama Charitable Trust to be a sponsor of a partnership school kura hourua.
2. The name of the sponsor's school is Te Kapehu Whetu (Teina).
3. The sponsor's school will be located in Whangarei.
4. Te Kapehu Whetu (Teina) will be a co-educational contributing primary school.
5. Education at Te Kapehu Whetu (Teina) may be given for Years 1-6.
6. For the 2015 year, Te Kapehu Whetu (Teina) will enrol students in Years 1-6. None of the class levels at the school will be single-sex.
7. Te Kapehu Whetu (Teina) will operate with the following aim, purpose and/or objectives:
(a) Kaupapa Maori philosophy that validates Maori culture and a Maori world view;
(b) innovative, akonga-centred education that provides progressive pedagogy, a constructivist approach and personalised learning;
(c) collaborative partnerships with whanau, local schools and tertiary institutions; and
(d) evidenced-based development - through evidence, either kaupapa Maori or mainstream research and/or data, develop the kura to be a responsive, 21st century learning organisation for Akonga, that has at its heart a Maori whakaaro.
8. This notice shall come into force the day after its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.
