Redesignation of Te Kura o Whatatutu, Gisborne (2739) as a Kura Kaupapa Maori

Pursuant to section 154A of the Education Act 1989,
I hereby declare that Te Kura o Whatatutu will be redesignated as a kura kaupapa Maori school on 21 July 2014.
1. The name of the school will be Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Whatatutu.
2. The school will operate in accordance with Te Aho Matua.
Special characteristics
The whanau of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Whatatutu commit totally to the guiding principles outlined in Te Aho Matua that:
- the paramount purpose of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori
o Whatatutu is to meet the needs of tamariki and their learning;
- all tamariki enjoy an education, which respects their tino rangatiratanga, dignity, rights and individuality;
- the whanau undertake to educate their tamariki through te reo Maori total immersion as a medium of instruction;
- tamariki develop a sensitivity and respect for others; and
- this education challenges them to reach their full potential in the pursuit excellence.
Constitution of the board of trustees
The constitution of the board of trustees of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Whatatutu shall not be changed by this notice.
