Notice of Action Taken by the Electrical Workers Registration Board

The Registrar of the Electrical Workers Registration Board ("the Board"), having been directed by the Board in accordance with section 147Z(2) of the Electricity Act 1992, gives notice that the following registered electrical worker having been disciplined by the Board under Part 11 of the Electricity Act 1992, and the effect of the decisions or orders of the Board:
Christopher David Gainford (E 248184), in relation to work carried out at a property in Palmerston North about or during February and March 2013, was found guilty of negligently creating a risk of serious harm to any person or a risk of significant property damage, through having carried out prescribed electrical work contrary to section 143(b)(ii) of the Electricity Act 1992, and failed to comply with a term or condition of his registration or licence contrary to section 143(c)
of the Electricity Act 1992.
Christopher David Gainford was suspended from registering until such time as he passes a specified examination, being the electrician level written regulations examination, fined $6,000.00 and ordered to pay costs of $250.00.
In relation to work carried out at a property in Wanganui during February 2012, Christopher David Gainford was found guilty of negligently creating a risk of serious harm to any person or a risk of significant property damage, through having carried out or caused to be carried out prescribed electrical work contrary to section 143(b)(ii) of the Electricity Act 1992, and failed to comply with a term or condition of his registration or licence contrary to section 143(c)
of the Electricity Act 1992, and provided a false or misleading return contrary to section 143(f) of the Electricity Act 1992.
Christopher David Gainford was suspended from registering for two years, and any re-instatement is subject to the Board being satisfied that the specified examination referred to above has been passed, fined $7,000.00 and ordered to pay costs of $250.00.
