Pursuant to section 11 of the Electricity Industry Act 2010 ("Act"), the Electricity Authority ("Authority") gives the following notice.
N o t i c e
1. Title and commencement-(1) This notice is the Electricity Industry (Exemption No. 200 (Contact Energy Limited)) Exemption Notice 2014.
(2) This notice comes into force on the day after the date it is notified in the New Zealand Gazette.
2. Exemption-Contact Energy Limited ("Contact") is exempted from complying with the obligation in 10.14(2)(b) of the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 ("Code") to ensure that unmetered load is not greater than the relevant unmetered load threshold, in respect of the following six installation control points:
(a) 0016096032EL6DD;
(b) 0008801012TP900;
(c) 0014189134HBC96;
(d) 0005000772HBA61;
(e) 0000038627NTADB; and
(f) 0001183605HB0B0.
3. Term-This exemption expires at the close of
31 December 2014.
4. Reasons for granting the exemption-The reasons for granting this exemption are:
(a) granting the exemption meets the requirements in section 11(2) of the Act for granting exemptions;
(b) Contact requires additional time to complete the work already initiated to achieve compliance so
the exemption is only for a limited time;
(c) without the exemption, a participant could allege a Code breach which would initiate higher compliance costs associated with the Authority's staff investigating the matter; and
(d) the exemption will have little or no impact on other participants and service providers, and will not affect any other Code provisions.
