1. Pursuant to section 38(3)(b) of the Electricity Industry Act 2010, the Electricity Authority ("Authority") gives notice of the making of the Electricity Industry Participation (Electricity Information Exchange Protocols) Code Amendment 2013.
2. The amendment comes into force on 16 December 2013.
3. The amendment enables the Authority to publicise electricity information exchange protocols ("EIEPs") that some distributors and traders must comply with when exchanging information. The amendment also:
- requires the Authority to consult before publicising or amending an EIEP;
- provides that a distributor and trader may agree not to comply with an EIEP;
- provides that the Authority may publicise EIEPs
that distributors and traders may choose to use when exchanging information; and
- contains transitional provisions relating to existing EIEPs.
