Notice of Exemption From Maritime Rules: 25.4(a); 40A.18(2); 40A.18(3)(a); 40A.33(2)(e); 40A.56, Appendix 4.3 Lifebuoys; 40C.53(1), Appendix 4.1; 40D.11(1); 40D.11(3); 42A.17(1); 42A.17(2); 46.17(1)(a)

Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions:
- 2 from Maritime Rule 25.4(a) - Nautical Charts and Publications - Area requirements - Unlimited area - Owner and master of any vessel that operates in the unlimited area must ensure that the vessel carries nautical charts
- 13 from Maritime Rule 40A.18(2) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger ships which are not SOLAS ships - Passenger accommodation - Seating - 450mm of seating must be allowed for each person if continuous fixed seating is installed
- 13 from Maritime Rule 40A.18(3)(a) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger ships which are not SOLAS ships - Passenger accommodation - Seating - Fixed seating installed must provide for ready escape with passageways between fixed seating not less that 750mm wide if passageway is more than 4.5 metres in length
- 13 from Maritime Rule 40A.33(2)(e) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger ships which are not SOLAS ships - Machinery - Petrol inboard and outboard engines - Ship fitted with one outboard engine as main source of propulsion, if proceeding beyond enclosed waters, must have auxiliary engine of sufficient power to enable ship to return safely to port or a safe haven

- 1 from Maritime Rule 40D.11(1) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Fishing ships - Design survey, construction and structural strength - Watertight bulkheads - Every ship of 12 metres or more in length must be fitted with a vertically continuous watertight collision bulkhead that extends to the uppermost continuous deck
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40D.11(3) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Fishing ships - Design survey, construction and structural strength - Watertight bulkheads - Position of the collision bulkhead, required by Rule 40D.11(1), measured
aft of the foreside of the stem at the design waterline must be to surveyor's satisfaction for any existing ships and ships constructed or converted into fishing ship and between limits given in Table 1
