Notice of Exemption From Maritime Rules: 20.6; 21.13(1)(a); 21.13(1)(b); 21.13(1)(c); 31A.12(2)(c); 31B.15, Table 8; 32.17A(c)(i); 32.9(3); 40A, Appendix 7, Table 2(C), Note (5); 40A, Appendix 7, Table 3(B); 40C.29(2)(e); 40D.11(1); 40D.37(1), Appendix 1.4; 40D.68(1), Appendix 3.3; 42A.37(1)(a); 42B.20(16)

Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions:
- 1 from Maritime Rule 20.6 - Operating Limits - Assigning operating limits and operating within assigned limits - Owner and master of a ship are required to operate within assigned limits
- 1 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(a) - Safe Ship Management Systems - Entry to and conditions to be met in order for ship to remain in Safe Ship Management System - ship belongs to an organisation’s approved safe ship management system
- 6 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(b) - Ships which do not proceed beyond restricted limits, fishing ships, and ships of less than 45 metres in length are not required to comply with section 1 - entry to and conditions to be met in order to remain in Safe Ship Management System - New Zealand Safe Ship Management Certificate issued by the Director
- 1 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(c) - Safe Ship Management Systems - Entry to and conditions to be met in order for ship to remain in Safe Ship Management System - compliance with conditions and limitations

- 1 from Maritime Rule 31B.15, Table 8 - Crewing and Watchkeeping. Offshore, Coastal and Restricted (Non-Fishing Vessels) - Non-passenger vessel - Enclosed area - seafarers holding the minimum required qualifications specified in Table 8 for non-passenger vessels operating within the enclosed area
- 1 from Maritime Rule 32.17A(c)(i) - Ships’ Personnel - Qualifications - Bridge watchkeepers, mates and masters - Officer in charge of a navigational watch of a foreign going ship - route 2 - 12 months’ sea service completion on commercial ships in the last 10 years as person in charge of navigational watch
- 1 from Maritime Rule 32.9(3) - Ships’ Personnel - Qualifications - Combined skipper/engineer certificates - Local launch operator (LLO) - LLO certificate with up to 5 additional vessels or 5 additional areas of intended operation or combination of additional vessels and areas
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A, Appendix 7, Table 2(C), Note (5) - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships - Anchors and Cables - Where a ship is required to carry two anchors of a specified weight, any one anchor may differ by not more than 10 percent from such specified weight, but the total weight of both anchors carried must not be less than twice the specified weight
