Notice of Exemption From Maritime Rules: 20.5(2)(a); 21.13(1)(b); 31B.10; 40A.59(b), Appendix 7, Table 3B; 40C.12(1)(a); 46.17(1)(a); 46.17(1)(b); 47.65(2); 90.61(1)(d); 91.4(1)

Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions:
- 1 from Maritime Rule 20.5(2)(a) - Operating Limits - Assigning operating limits and operating within assigned limits - Operating limits assigned to a ship under Rule 20.5(1) must be clearly recorded by the surveyor on the certificate required by Rule 21.13(2)(a)
- 1 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(b) - Safe Ship Management Systems - Entry to and conditions to be met in order for ship to remain in Safe Ship Management System - New Zealand Safe Ship Management Certificate issued by Director
- 1 from Maritime Rule 31B.10 - Crewing and Watchkeeping Offshore, Coastal and Restricted (Non-Fishing Vessels) - Passenger vessels - Enclosed area - Passenger vessels operating in enclosed area must carry seafarer with minimum required qualifications
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.59(b), Appendix 7, Table 3B - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships - Anchors and cables - Ships operating in restricted limits - Owner of new ship less than
24 metres in length overall must ensure provision of anchors and cables on ship in accordance with the requirements
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40C.12(1)(a) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Non-Passenger Ships that are not SOLAS Ships - General Non-Passenger Ships - Subdivision and Stability - New ships of 15 metres or more in length overall must be fitted with vertically continuous collision bulkhead that is watertight up to freeboard deck
- 1 from Maritime Rule 46.17(1)(a) - Surveys, Certification and Maintenance - Ships which do not proceed beyond restricted limits, fishing ships, and ships of less than 45 metres in length - Inspections - Hull and external fittings inspections below the waterline with the ship out of the water at intervals not exceeding two years
- 1 from Maritime Rule 46.17(1)(b) - Surveys, Certification and Maintenance - Ships which do not proceed beyond restricted limits, fishing ships, and ships less than 45 metres in length that are not required to comply with section 1 - Inspections - Propeller shafts and rudder stocks with water lubricated bearings at intervals not exceeding four years
- 1 from Maritime Rule 47.65(2) - Load Lines - Ships of less than 24 metres in length - Conditions of assignment - Height from deck of coamings must be of substantial construction
- 6 from Maritime Rule 90.61(1)(d) - Pilotage - Pilotage Exemption Certificates (PEC) - Application of PEC - PEC applicants must provide evidence satisfactory to the Director of having successfully completed a structured training programme, approved by the Director
- 2 from Maritime Rule 91.4(1) - Navigation Safety Rules - Operating requirements - Personal flotation devices -
No person in charge of a recreational craft may use it unless sufficient personal flotation devices of an appropriate size for each person are on board at the time of use, and in a readily accessible location
