Land Transport Rules

In accordance with section 161(2) of the Land Transport Act 1998, the NZ Transport Agency, on behalf of the Minister of Transport, gives notice of the Minister’s intention to make Rules that will amend the Land Transport (Driver Licensing) Rule 1999 and the Land Transport (Road User) Rule 2004, and advises that the draft amendment Rules are available for public comment.
Land Transport (Driver Licensing) Amendment Rule (No. 2) 2013
This proposed amendment would allow the holders of driver licences issued by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Korea to convert their licences to an equivalent
New Zealand driver licence without further testing.

Submissions close on 15 March 2013.
Land Transport (Road User) Amendment Rule 2013
The aim of the proposed amendment Rule is to improve the safety of children travelling in vehicles by requiring all children under the age of seven years to use an approved child restraint.
Changes are also proposed to exceptions from using child restraints in certain circumstances.
