Notice of Intention to Take Land for Aerodrome Purposes-Queenstown Lakes District

Notice is hereby given that Queenstown Airport Corporation Limited, under the provisions of section 23(1)(b) of the Public Works Act 1981, proposes to take the land described in the Schedule hereto ("the land").
The land described in the Schedule to this notice is required for aerodrome purposes.
The intended taking is considered reasonably necessary to provide for the continued safe and efficient functioning of Queenstown Airport to meet projected passenger and operational growth at Queenstown Airport ("Airport")
and in particular:
(a) to enable the relocation of general aviation and helicopter activities from the south-western area of the Airport to provide for essential growth in airport operations and activities including expansion of the passenger terminal, additional apron areas around the terminal for scheduled aircraft, additional carparking for public, staff and rental vehicles, additional grass and paved apron areas and space
for hangars for general aviation and helicopter activities;
(b) to provide for the formation of a Code C taxiway (including appropriate clearances) parallel to and with adequate separation from the main runway 23/05 within Queenstown Airport Corporation Limited’s existing Aerodrome Purposes designation.
Queenstown Airport Corporation Limited has assessed a number of alternative locations for these activities and has identified the land as the most preferable for a number of reasons including reasons of safety and operational efficiency.
The owner of the land and those persons with a registered interest in it have been served with notice of Queenstown Airport Corporation Limited’s intention to take their land and advised of their right to object.
Any other person having the right to object may send
a written objection to the Registrar, Environment Court, Ministry of Justice, PO Box 5027, Lambton Quay, Wellington 6145, or DX SX11154, Wellington, within
20 working days after the date of publication of this notice.
If any objection is made in accordance with this notice, a public hearing will be held with the right of the objector to appear and be heard personally unless the objector otherwise requires, and each objector will be informed of the time and place of the hearing.

The land to be taken is approximately 15.89 hectares or thereabouts in area, situated to the south of main runway 23/05 and to the east of cross runway 14/32 at Queenstown Airport, Frankton, Queenstown, and forms part of the land legally described as Lot 6 DP 304345 which is part of the land comprised in Computer Freehold Register 17558 Otago Land Registry.
