Notice of Proposals to Assign or Alter or Discontinue Geographic Names

Pursuant to section 16 of the New Zealand Geographic Board (Nga Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Act 2008 ("the Act"), the
New Zealand Geographic Board Nga Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa hereby gives notice of various proposals to either assign new,
or alter existing, or discontinue existing, geographic names.
The proposed new or altered or discontinued geographic names are specified in the first column of the Schedule below
("the Schedule").
The geographic feature type that each proposed new or altered or discontinued geographic name relates to is set out in the second column of the Schedule.
The description of each proposed new or altered or discontinued geographic name is set out in the third column of the Schedule.
The date by which submissions must be received is provided in the fourth column of the Schedule.
Submissions on proposed new or altered or discontinued geographic names may be provided in writing to the Secretary of

In accordance with section 17 of the Act, submissions must state, with reasons, whether the proposal is supported or objected to and if an objection is made, then submissions may set out an alternative proposal, or support the existing name, if any.

South Auckland Land District
Stokes Peak Peak Raised peak, at height 814m, located in the Kaimai Range, directly above the Kaimai Railway Tunnel. NZTopo50 BD36-Lower Kaimai, GR 532 251. Geodetic mark, coded A39H, named 5793, beaconed, is located at the summit. Official by New Zealand Gazette, 9 September 2010, No. 115, page 3108. To be discontinued. 27 April 2012
Te Hanga Ridge Ridge A distinctive ridge along the Kaimai Range, extending in a generally southerly direction from a hill named Ngatamahinerua at height 849m to a point at height 640m where the ridge drops steeply near one of
the source tributaries of Puketutu Stream near spot height 576m. Located on the ridge are a hill
named Pukupenga at height 841m and the current official name of Stokes Peak which is proposed to
be discontinued above. NZTopo50 BD35-Matamata GR 513 279 to BD36-Lower Kaimai GR 539 234. Assigning a traditional and locally used Maori name. 27 April 2012

Kokoamo Creek Stream A small stream, 6km long, flowing generally northerly then easterly to the Kokoamo locality. NZTopo50 CB17-Kurow GR 180 254 to CB18-Ikawai GR 214 282. Spelling alteration from Kokoamu Creek. 27 April 2012
Te Wai-o-Koroiko
Scenic Reserve Scenic Reserve Located off the Crown Range Road, approximately 15km east of Arrowtown, 18km north-west of Cromwell, and adjacent to the Roaring Meg
(stream). NZTopo50 CB12-Cardrona, GR 862 190. Assigning a new Crown protected area name. Otago Conservancy - Conservation Unit Number F40170. Notified in terms of section 30(3) of the Act. 5 March 2012
