Pursuant to section 67 of the Ngati Whare Claims Settlement Act 2012 ("the Settlement Act 2012"), the New Zealand Geographic Board Nga Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa ("Board") hereby gives notice of altered geographic names.
The Board hereby also gives notice of an altered Crown Protected Area name, which has been altered in accordance with clauses 5.5-5.7 and 5.45 of the Ngati Whare Deed of Settlement signed on 8 December 2009.
Schedules 1 and 2 below specify the details of the altered geographic and Crown Protected Area names; their geographic feature types or generic term; their descriptions; and their former names.
The official names took effect on 8 May 2012, being the date that the Settlement Act 2012 came into effect.
Pursuant to section 68 of the Settlement Act 2012, the Board may, in future, agree to alter any official geographic or Crown Protected Area name, as listed in Schedules 1 and 2 below, with the consent of the trustees of Te Runanga o Ngati Whare.
