Intention to Develop a New Approved Code of Practice for Health and Safety Representatives in the Upstream Petroleum Sector

The Deputy Chief Executive, Safety and Regulatory Practice, Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, has been asked by the Minister of Labour to develop an Approved Code of Practice for Health and Safety Representatives in the Upstream Petroleum sector.
This code will be approved pursuant to section 20(1) of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992.
The Approved Code of Practice for Health and Safety Representatives in the Upstream Petroleum Sector will set out a statement of preferred work practices or arrangements for health and safety representatives for those working in this sector.
The code is to be developed with industry and union representatives and it is intended the final draft will be made available for public consultation and feedback in early 2013.
