Notice of Approval of the New Approved Code

of Practice for Safety and Health in Arboriculture Which Will Supersede the Approved Code
of Practice for Safety and Health in
Tree Work-Part 1 Arboriculture* of 1994
Notice is hereby given that the Acting Deputy Chief Executive, Labour, asked the Minister of Labour to approve the revocation of the 1994 Approved Code of Practice for Safety and Health in Tree Work-Part 1 Arboriculture* which will be replaced by the Approved Code of Practice for Safety and Health in Arboriculture 2012, pursuant to section 20(1)(a) of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992.
The Approved Code of Practice for Safety and Health in Arboriculture sets out a statement of preferred work practices or arrangements for the health and safety of those working within the arboriculture industry. The code applies to all places of work where employers and employees use arboricultural practices in the course of their duties.
There have been a number of amendments proposed to correct data and reflect advances in safe arboricultural practice. Those changes have been both consulted on with industry experts and made public for feedback.
The Minister for Labour has approved this new Approved Code of Practice for Safety and Health in Arboriculture, which will supersede the 1994 code.
Dated at Wellington this 24th day of September 2012.
ELIZABETH MACPHERSON, Acting Deputy Chief Executive, Labour, Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment.
