Notice of Exemption from Maritime Rules and Marine Protection Rules: 21.13(1)(a); 21.13(1)(b); 31A.13, Table 4; 31B.15, Table 8; 32.19B(1)(b); 40A.24(2)(a); 45.27(1)(a); 46.17(1)(a); 190.3(2)

Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions:
- 1 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(a) - Safe Ship Management Systems - Entry to and conditions to be met in order for ship to remain in Safe Ship Management System - Ship belongs to an organisation’s approved safe ship management system
- 7 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(b) - Safe Ship Management Systems - Entry to and conditions to be met in order for ship to remain in Safe Ship Management System - New Zealand Safe Ship Management Certificate issued by Director
- 1 from Maritime Rule 31A.13, Table 4 - Crewing and Watchkeeping, Unlimited Offshore, and Coastal (Non-Fishing Vessels) - Ship types - Unlimited area - Non-passenger ship of 15 metres or more in length, and carrying six or less passengers - MEC 4
- 1 from Maritime Rule 31B.15, Table 8 - Crewing and Watchkeeping, Offshore, Coastal and Restricted (Non-Fishing Vessels) - Non-passenger vessel - Enclosed area - seafarers holding the minimum required qualifications specified in Table 8 for non-passenger vessels operating within the enclosed area
- 2 from Maritime Rule 32.19B(1)(b) - Ships’ Personnel - Qualifications - Bridge watchkeepers, mates and masters -
New Zealand chief mate (yacht) - provide evidence of completion of sea service and navigational watch
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.24(2)(a) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships - Watertight and weather tight integrity - Ventilators on a ship not subject to requirements of Part 47 must have coaming heights above deck that comply with Table 40A.4
- 1 from Maritime Rule 45.27(1)(a) - Navigational Equipment - Ships of 500 tons gross tonnage or more to which SOLAS is not applied - Gyro-compasses - Fishing ship of 45 metres or more in length that is constructed on or after
1 September 1984 must be fitted with a gyro-compass that meets the requirements of the International Maritime Organisation Assembly Resolution A.424(XI)
- 1 from Maritime Rule 46.17(1)(a) - Surveys, Certification and Maintenance - Ships which do not proceed beyond restricted limits, fishing ships, and ships of less than 45 metres in length - Inspections - Hull and external fittings inspections below the waterline with the ship out of the water at intervals not exceeding two years
- 1 from Marine Protection Rule 190.3(2) - Mandatory Ships Routeing - Poor Knights Islands - The owner, charterer and master of a ship must not cause or allow the ship to enter the Poor Knights area in transit
