Notice of Exemption From Maritime Rules: 21.13(1)(a); 21.13(1)(b); 22.23(1)(a); 22, Appendix 1.3(4); 24B.10(3); 31A.7(1)(c); 31B.15, Table 8; 31C.9(a), Table 2; 31C.9(b); 35.6(7)(a); 40D.11(1); 40D.11(3); 46.17(1)(a); 46.24(3); 47.8(1)(c); 47.8(2)

Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions:
- 1 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(a) - Safe Ship Management Systems - Entry to and conditions to be met in order for ship to remain in Safe Ship Management System - Ship belongs to an organisation’s approved safe ship management system
- 7 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(b) - Safe Ship Management Systems - Entry to and conditions to be met in order for ship to remain in Safe Ship Management System - New Zealand Safe Ship Management Certificate issued by Director
- 1 from Maritime Rule 22.23(1)(a) - Collision Prevention - Lights and shapes - Power-driven vessels underway must exhibit masthead light forward
- 1 from Maritime Rule 22, Appendix 1.3(4) - Collision Prevention - Positioning and technical details of lights and shapes - Horizontal positioning and spacing of lights - Masthead light prescribed for a power driven vessel must be exhibited forward of amidships except vessels of less than 20 metres in length that must exhibit it as far forward as practicable
- 3 from Maritime Rule 24B.10(3) - Carriage of Cargoes - Stowage and Securing - Roll on/roll off ships - Master of a
ro-ro ship must ensure that a road freight vehicle, road tank vehicle, or road livestock vehicle taken on board a ro-ro ship to which rule 24B.14 applies has vehicle securing points that are adequate to secure the cargo for the intended voyage
- 1 from Maritime Rule 31A.7(1)(c) - Crewing and Watchkeeping Unlimited Offshore, and Coastal (Non-Fishing Vessels) - Minimum safe crewing - General requirements - Owner and master of ship must not operate ship unless minimum number of crew holding qualifications necessary for compliance with Minimum Safe Crewing Document required by rule 31A.8
- 1 from Maritime Rule 31B.15, Table 8 - Crewing and Watchkeeping. Offshore, Coastal and Restricted (Non-Fishing Vessels) - Non-passenger vessel - Enclosed area - Seafarers holding the minimum required qualifications specified in Table 8 for non-passenger vessels operating within the enclosed area
- 2 from Maritime Rule 31C.9(a), Table 2 - Crewing and Watchkeeping Fishing Vessels - Fishing vessels operating in unlimited area must carry at least seafarers holding minimum required qualifications specified in Table 2
- 1 from Maritime Rule 31C.9(b) - Crewing and Watchkeeping Fishing Vessels - Fishing vessels operating in unlimited area must carry at least applicable minimum crew specified in Table 2
- 1 from Maritime Rule 35.6(7)(a) - Training and Examinations - Examinations and assessment procedures - Examinations - Passes in oral and written examinations shall be valid for engineering certificates of competency
- 3 from Maritime Rule 40D.11(1) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Fishing Ships - Design survey, construction and structural strength - Watertight bulkheads - Every ship of 12 metres or more in length must be fitted with a vertically continuous watertight collision bulkhead that extends to the uppermost continuous deck
- 3 from Maritime Rule 40D.11(3) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Fishing Ships - Design survey, construction and structural strength - Watertight bulkheads - for ships of less than 20 metres in length, bulkhead may be stepped above waterline provided continuation of the bulkhead above the step is not less than 0.0375L metres abaft the stem at any point

- 1 from Maritime Rule 47.8(2) - Load Lines - Owner’s and master’s obligations - Owner and master must comply with and ensure compliance with this Section and the provisions of Articles 2, 3, 7, 10 to 15, Annex I and Annex II of the Load Line Convention
