Pursuant to section 79(5) of the Hazardous Substances
and New Organisms Act 1996 ("HSNO Act"), the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) advises that
it approved on 24 April 2012, the Code of Practice HSNOCOP 57 Secondary Containment Systems.
This code has been developed by the EPA and provides a means of compliance with:
- Regulations 35-39 and 41 of the Hazardous Substances (Emergency Management) Regulations;
- Regulations 37 and 38 of the Control - Hazardous Substances (Emergency Management) Regulations 2001 in Schedule 7 of the Hazardous Substances (Dangerous Goods and Scheduled Toxic Substances) Transfer Notice 2004;
- Clause 1 of Schedule 9 of the Hazardous Substances (Dangerous Goods and Scheduled Toxic Substances) Transfer Notice 2004;
- Clauses 59-62, 64 and 65 of the Site and Storage Conditions for Class 3.1 Flammable Liquids;
- Clauses 29-32 and 34 of the Site and Storage Conditions for Class 4 Substances;
- Clauses 44- 47 and 49 of theSite and Storage Conditions for Class 5.1.1 Oxidising Substances and Class 5.2 Organic Peroxides; and
- Clauses 10-13 and 15 of the Site and Storage Conditions for Toxic, Corrosive and Ecotoxic Substances.
Pursuant to section 80(1) of the HSNO Act, this code may be inspected on request at the Wellington office of the EPA, Level 1, BP House, 20 Customhouse Quay, Wellington.
