Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions:
- 1 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(a) - Safe Ship Management Systems - Ships which do not proceed beyond restricted limits, fishing ships, and ships of less that 45 metres in length are not required to comply with section 1 - Entry to and conditions to be met in order for ship to remain in Safe Ship Management System - Ship belongs to an organisation’s approved safe ship management system
- 10 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(b) - Safe Ship Management Systems - Ships which do not proceed beyond restricted limits, fishing ships, and ships of less that 45 metres in length are not required to comply with section 1 - Entry to and conditions to be met in order to remain in Safe Ship Management System - New Zealand Safe Ship Management Certificate issued by Director
- 1 from Maritime Rule 31B.9(1)(a) & (b), Table 2 - Crewing and Watchkeeping Offshore, Coastal and Restricted
(Non-Fishing Vessels) - Passenger Vessels - Inshore area - Seafarers holding minimum required qualifications specified in Table 2 and in accompanying flow-chart, and minimum crew specified in Table 2
- 1 from Maritime Rule 31B.14(1)(a), Table 6 - Crewing and Watchkeeping Offshore, Coastal and Restricted (Non-Fishing Vessels) - Non-passenger vessels - Inshore area - Seafarers holding the minimum required qualifications specified in Table 6 for non-passenger vessels operating within the inshore limits set out in Appendix 1 of Part 20
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.3(1) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships - Application - Every New Zealand passenger ship that does not proceed beyond restricted limits, or is less that 45 metres long and does not proceed beyond the offshore limit
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.7(1)(b)(ii) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships - Design, survey and construction - Ship’s design approved by a surveyor recognised by the Director for that purpose under rule 46.29 showing compliance with all applicable maritime and marine protection rules
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.18(1) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships - Passenger accommodation - Seating - Seating for every passenger on voyages of 30 minutes or more
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.56(1) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships - Life saving appliances - Life saving appliances provided in accordance with requirements of Appendix 4 in this Part
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.59(b), Appendix 7, Table 3B - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships - Anchors and cables - New ships of less than 24 metres - Owner of any new ship of less than
24 metres in length overall must ensure that the ship is provided with anchors and cables in accordance with requirements
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40C.28(6) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Non-passenger Ships that are not SOLAS Ships - Machinery - General - Two means of escape must be provided from a machinery space of Category A, except that a surveyor may permit a single means of escape that does not lead to other areas of major fire hazard if the space is an unmanned machinery space not exceeding 5 metres in length
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40C.53(1), Appendix 4.3 - Design, Construction and Equipment - Non-passenger ships that are not SOLAS Ships - Radiocommunications - Radiocommunication equipment - Owner and Master of a ship proceeding beyond enclosed waters must ensure radiocommunication equipment is provided in accordance with requirements that apply to ships of less than 300 gross tonnage that undertake an international voyage
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40E, Appendix 3, section 3 - Design, Construction and Equipment - Sailing Ships - Fire Fighting Appliances - If required to comply with requirement under Part 42B, ship must comply with requirement as if it were a passenger ship - Ships of 12 metres of more but less than 24 metres
- 1 from Maritime Rule 46.17(1)(b) - Surveys, Certification and Maintenance - Ships which do not proceed beyond restricted limits, fishing ships, and ships less than 45 metres in length - Inspections of propeller shafts and rudder stocks with water lubricated bearings at intervals not exceeding four years
- 2 from Maritime Rule 47.8(2)(a) - Load Lines - Ships of 24 metres or more in length - Owner’s and master’s obligations - The owner and master must comply with and ensure compliance with this Section and the provisions of Articles 2, 3, 7, 10 to 15, Annex I and Annex II of the Load Line Convention
- 1 from Maritime Rule 90.22(b) - Pilotage - Pilotage requirements - Provision of Pilotage services - No person or organisation may provide pilotage services in any pilotage area unless the Director has approved the proficiency plan in accordance with Rule 90.103
