Pursuant to section 67 of the Ngati Apa (North Island) Claims Settlement Act 2010 ("the Settlement Act 2010"), the
New Zealand Geographic Board Nga Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa ("the Board") hereby gives notice of an altered official geographic name (and its location) in accordance with sections 65-69 of the Settlement Act 2010.
The Board hereby also gives notice of official Crown Protected Area names (and their locations), which have been altered in accordance with sections 51(4), 52, 53(4), 54(4) and 70 of the Settlement Act 2010.
Schedules 1 and 2 below specify the details of the official names; their geographic feature type or generic term; their descriptions; and their former names.
The official names took effect on 17 February 2011.
Pursuant to section 68 of the Settlement Act 2010, the Board may, in the future, agree to alter any official names or their locations, with the consent of the trustees of Te Runanga o Ngati Apa.
