Authorised Access to Certain Names and Addresses Held on the Motor Vehicle Register

Pursuant to section 241 of the Land Transport Act 1998 ("the Act"), I authorise the following person, for the purposes and the term, and on the conditions stated below, to have access to the names and addresses of persons:
- who are currently registered in respect of a motor vehicle(s); and
- who have not instructed the Registrar of Motor Vehicles to withhold their details.
Person Purpose Term
Holden New Zealand Limited - To advise Holden customers (being those
owning new or used Holden vehicles) of new
product information and relevant product
(vehicles and parts) and service offers.
- For market research - surveying Holden
customers on attitudes around alternative fuels,
electric vehicles etc. 1 May 2011 to 30 April 2016 inclusive
Conditions
(a) The names and addresses are accessed only by Holden New Zealand Limited on its own behalf and solely for its own use;
(b) The names and addresses are accessed only for a specified purpose;
(c) The fees charged for the provision of the names and addresses from the Motor Vehicle Register are duly paid;
(d) Any identified instances of unauthorised access are immediately notified to the Secretary for Transport and the Privacy Commissioner;
(e) Before being permitted to access the Motor Vehicle Register under section 241 of the Act, all new staff must receive training that emphasises that such access must only be for a specified purpose, and refresher training of all staff also must be undertaken at appropriate intervals;
(f) Access must be restricted solely to members of staff for whom authorised access is essential to achieving a specified purpose;
(g) The names and addresses obtained under this authorisation shall not be disclosed to any third party unless such disclosure is necessarily incidental to achieving a specified purpose;
(h) Everyone contacted through names and addresses accessed under this authorisation must, at the first opportunity, be informed of their right to opt out under section 241(7)(b) of the Act, and also that they may request that Holden
New Zealand Limited immediately remove them from its mailing list so that they will not receive any further marketing
or market research-related correspondence; and
(i) Holden New Zealand Limited must comply with the Motochek Terms and Conditions, available at
