Notice of Exemption From Maritime Rules: 21.13(1)(b); 31C.9(a); 35.6(8)(a); 40A.18(2); 40A.18(3)(a); 40A.19(1), Table 40A.2; 40A.33(1)(e); 40A.33(2)(e); 40A.56(1); 40C.7(1)(b); 46.17(1)(a)

Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions:
- 7 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(b) - Safe Ship Management Systems - Entry to and conditions to be met in order for ship to remain in Safe Ship Management System - New Zealand Safe Ship Management Certificate issued by Director
- 1 from Maritime Rule 31C.9(a) - Crewing and Watchkeeping Fishing Vessels - Operating Areas - Unlimited area - Fishing vessels operating in the unlimited area must carry seafarers holding minimum required qualifications
- 4 from Maritime Rule 35.6(8)(a) - Training and Examinations - Examinations and assessment procedures - Examinations - No candidate who fails an examination may re-sit until three weeks passed from date of failed examination
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.18(2) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships - Passenger accommodation - Seating - 450mm of seating must be allowed for each person if continuous fixed seating is installed
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.18(3)(a) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships - Passenger accommodation - Seating - Fixed seating installed must provide for ready escape, with passageways between fixed seating of not less than 600mm wide
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.19(1), Table 40A.2 - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships - Passenger accommodation - Egress - Minimum width of any single opening, including any door and stairway, that gives normal egress from any passenger compartment to open deck spaces must be determined from Table 40A.2

- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.56(1) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships - Life saving appliances - Restricted limit ships
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40C.7(1)(b) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Non-passenger Ships that are not SOLAS Ships - Design, survey and construction - Design - Approval of ship’s design by surveyor recognised by the Director
- 1 from Maritime Rule 46.17(1)(a) - Surveys, Certification and Maintenance - Ships which do not proceed beyond restricted limits, fishing ships, and ships of less than 45 metres in length - Inspections - Hull and external fittings inspections below the waterline with the ship out of the water at intervals not exceeding two years
