Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions:
- 1 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(b) - Safe Ship Management Systems - Ships which do not proceed beyond restricted limits, fishing ships, and ships of less than 45 metres in length which are not required to comply with section 1 - Entry to and conditions to be met in order for ship to remain in Safe Ship Management System - New Zealand Safe Ship Management Certificate issued by Director
- 1 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(c)(ii) - Safe Ship Management Systems - Ships which do not proceed beyond restricted limits, fishing ships, and ships of less than 45 metres in length which are not required to comply with section 1 - Entry to and conditions to be met in order for ship to remain in Safe Ship Management System - compliance with conditions and limitations stated in ship’s New Zealand Safe Ship Management Certificate
- 1 from Maritime Rule 31A.12(2)(c) - Crewing and Watchkeeping Unlimited, Offshore, Coastal and Restricted
(Non-Fishing Vessels) - Ship Types - General Requirements - basic safety training certificate that Director is satisfied meets requirements
- 1 from Maritime Rule 31A.13(2) - Crewing and Watchkeeping Unlimited, Offshore, Coastal and Restricted (Non-Fishing Vessels) - Ship Types - Unlimited Area - permit non-passenger ships of less than 500 gross tonnage operating in unlimited area to carry at least minimum crew
- 1 from Maritime Rule 31B.12(a) - Crewing and Watchkeeping Unlimited, Offshore, Coastal and Restricted (Non-Fishing Vessels) - Non-passenger vessels - Offshore Area - seafarers holding minimum required qualifications
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A, Appendix 3.3 - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships - Fire fighting appliances - Restricted limit ships
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.12(2)(a) and (b) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships - General passenger ships - Subdivision and stability - ship of 15 metres or more in length overall must be fitted with vertically continuous collision bulkhead that is watertight and located not less than 5 percent length overall
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.17(1) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships - Passenger accommodation - Shelter - ships proceeding beyond enclosed water limits must have spaces that provide shelter from weather
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.33(2)(e) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger ships which are not SOLAS ships - General Passenger Ships - Machinery - Petrol inboard and outboard engines - auxiliary outboard engine of sufficient power for safe return to port or safe haven
- 3 from Maritime Rule 40A.55(1) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger ships which are not SOLAS ships - General Passenger Ships - Fire fighting appliances provided in accordance with Appendix 3
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.56(1) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger ships which are not SOLAS ships - General Passenger Ships - Life saving appliances provided in accordance with Appendix 3
- 1 from Maritime Rule 45.21(4)(c) - Navigational Equipment - All Ships to which SOLAS is not applied - Magnetic compasses - small passenger and non-passenger ships, and fishing ships - compasses fitted to ship adjusted to have no more than 5 degrees deviation
- 1 from Maritime Rule 46.24(3) - Surveys, Certification and Maintenance - Ships which do not proceed beyond restricted limits, fishing ships, and ships of less than 45 metres in length that are not required to comply with section 1 - Barges - Certification of barges - Owner of barge must not operate barge unless barge has valid New Zealand Barge Safety Certificate
- 1 from Maritime Rule 80.9(1)(d) - Marine Craft Used for Adventure Tourism - Commercial Rafting - Requirements for safety of commercial rafting - rafting operation audited by authorised person
- 1 from Maritime Rule 90.5(1)(a) - Pilotage - Compulsory pilotage - master of oil tanker or gas carrier must ensure that the ship carries a pilot entitled under this Part to pilot that ship
- 2 from Maritime Rule 90.5(2)(a) - Pilotage - Compulsory pilotage - master of any ship other than oil tanker, chemical tanker or gas carrier must ensure that the ship carries a pilot entitled under this Part to pilot that ship
