Notice of Exemption From Maritime Rules: 21.13(1)(b); 40A.17(1); 40A.24(2)(a); 40A.55(1); 40A.56(1); 40C.15(2)(a); 46.17(1)(a); 47.65(1)(a); 47.65(2); 80.6(2)(a), Appendix 1, section 8.1(b)

Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions:
- 9 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(b) - Safe Ship Management Systems - Entry to and conditions to be met in order for ship to remain in Safe Ship Management System - New Zealand Safe Ship Management Certificate issued by Director.
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.17(1) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships - General passenger ships - Passenger accommodation - where a ship proceeds beyond enclosed water limits, the ship must have spaces that provide shelter from weather for total number of passengers that the ship is certified to carry.
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.24(2)(a) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships - General passenger ships - Watertight and weathertight integrity - Ventilators on a ship that is not subject to the requirements of Part 47 must have coaming heights above deck that comply with Table 40A.4A.
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.55(1) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships - General passenger ships - Firefighting appliances - owner and master of a ship must ensure that fire appliances are provided in accordance with requirements of Appendix 3 of this Part.
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.56(1) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships - General passenger ships - Life saving appliances - owner and master of a ship must ensure that life saving appliances are provided in accordance with requirements of Appendix 4 of this Part.
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40C.15(2)(a) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Non-passenger ships that are not SOLAS ships - General non-passenger ships - Subdivision and stability - Freeboard - freeboard measured down from lowest point of weather deck of not less than 375mm for a ship of 6 metres or less in length overall and not less than 750mm for a ship of 18 metres or more in length overall, or freeboard must be determined by linear interpolation for ship of intermediate length overall.
- 1 from Maritime Rule 46.17(1)(a) - Surveys, Certification and Maintenance - Ships which do not proceed beyond restricted limits, fishing ships, and ships of less than 45 metres in length - Inspections - inspections of hull and external fittings below the waterline with the ship out of the water at intervals not exceeding 2 years.
- 1 from Maritime Rule 47.65(1)(a) - Load Lines - Ships of less than 24 metres in length - conditions of assignment - height from deck of sills in doorways of deckhouses or superstructures on the weather deck from inside which there is direct access to spaces below the weather deck.
- 1 from Maritime Rule 47.65(2) - Load Lines - Ships of less than 24 metres in length - height from the deck of coamings.
- 1 from Maritime Rule 80.6(2)(a), Appendix 1, section 8.1(b) - Marine Craft Involved in Adventure Tourism - Jet boats operating on rivers - Requirements for the safety of jet boats operating on rivers - Safe operation - navigation general - boat must keep to right at all times.
