Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions:
- 1 from Maritime Rule 21.9(1)(b) - Safe Ship Management Systems - Ships which do not proceed beyond restricted limits, fishing ships, and ships less than 45 metres in length which are not required to comply with section 1 - application of section 2 - commercial ship or other than a fishing ship which does not proceed beyond restricted limits
- 9 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(b) - Safe Ship Management Systems - Entry to and conditions to be met in order for ship to remain in Safe Ship Management System - New Zealand Safe Ship Management Certificate issued by Director
- 1 from Maritime Rule 31A.7(1)(c) - Crewing and Watchkeeping Unlimited, Offshore, Coastal and Restricted (Non-Fishing Vessels) - Minimum Safe Crewing - general requirements necessary for compliance with the Minimum Safe Crewing Document required by rule 31A.8
- 1 from Maritime Rule 31A.13, Table 4 - Crewing and Watchkeeping Unlimited, Offshore, Coastal and Restricted
(Non-Fishing Vessels) - Ship Types - Unlimited Area
- 1 from Maritime Rule 31C.7(1)(b) - Crewing and Watchkeeping Fishing Vessels - Minimum Safe Crewing - general requirements for crew qualifications - applicable tables and flowcharts in rules 31C.9 to 31C.13 inclusive
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.10(1)(a) and (b) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger ships which are not SOLAS ships - General Passenger Ships - application of section 1 - any passenger ship used as a ferry, excursion ship, cruising ship, training ship, water taxi or sports fishing boat; and during a voyage is not at any time wholly submerged below surface of water
- 2 from Maritime Rule 40A.33(2)(e) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger ships which are not SOLAS ships - General Passenger Ships - Machinery - Petrol inboard and outboard engines - auxiliary outboard engine of sufficient power for safe return to port or safe haven

- 1 from Maritime Rule 40E, Appendix 1, clause 2(2) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Sailing Ships - Intact Stability - Single hull ships 24 metres or more in length or that carry 15 or more persons or that proceed beyond offshore limits - centre gravity of ship established by means of inclining experiment
- 1 from Maritime Rule 45.25(2)(a) and (b) - Navigational Equipment - All Ships to which SOLAS is not applied - Magnetic compasses - installation, repositioning, repair and adjustment of adjustable magnetic compasses - proper adjustment set out in Appendix and appropriate table or curve of deviations available at all times
